Here, at ROD Academy, helping students to enter medical school is our mission. University of Hong Kong Medical School is a world renowned medical school with many distinguished graduates including Dr Sun Yat-Sen. To apply to HKU medical school, simple follow the steps below:
First, set up an online account on the application web page of HKU for an online application.
Complete it with photos and the relevant documents
Prepare a personal statement
Submit before deadline
22 Sep 2022 Applications open By 16 Nov 2022 noon Submit your application for first-round evaluation From 16 Nov 2022 Submit applications to be evaluated on a rolling basis By 1 Dec 2022 Submit supporting documents for first-round evaluation (counsellors and referees) From 6 Dec 2022 First-round results announced 24 Aug 2023 Applications close at noon (HKT)

Entry requirements:
HKU medical school offers 295 places in 2023-24 and it does not set specific quota for JUPAS and non-JUPAS places.
Select students who rank around top 1-2% in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or equivalent standards for non-JUPAS categories, as well as having a good performance at the admission interview.
Only permanent residents with right of abode in Hong Kong are eligible for application (except for a few students from mainland China under a specific Mainland scheme).
JUPAS
DSE students:
4 core subjects + 2 elective subjects.
English and Chinese with grades of 3; Mathematics and Liberal Studies with grades of 2 and 2 elective subjects with 3
The elective subjects should include chemistry.
The result of the Mathematics Extended Part (Modules 1 and 2) will be recognised as equivalent to that of a full elective in fulfilling the University Entrance Requirement on the condition that one of the elective subjects must be a Senior Secondary Subject (i.e. Category A Subject).
They rank DSE students based on total score of their best 6
DSE subject results with the following scoring scheme:
Category A (Senior Secondary Subjects: 5** = 8.5, 5* = 7, 5 = 5.5, 4 = 4, 3 = 3, 2 = 2, 1 = 1
Category C (Other Language Subjects : A = 7, B = 5.5, C = 4, D = 2.5, E = 1
HKU welcome eligible NCS applicants to submit Alternative Qualifications in Chinese Language (ACL), i.e. GCSE / GCE etc. for consideration to satisfy the general Chinese Language requirement.
Admission score for 2020/21 year
Upper quartile 48 (eg 4x 5**, 2x5*); Median 45 (3x5**, 2x5*, 1x5); Lower quartile 44 (eg 4x5**, 1x5*, 1x3)

Non-JUPAS
GCE-A-Level students
GCE/IAL students should take 4 AL subjects, excluding Chinese.
The AL subjects should include chemist
ry or biology and preferably both.
Further Maths is not counted as a separate subject. The raw mark of Maths or Further Maths, whichever is higher, will count towards the total GCE score.
Students are required to provide raw marks and grade boundaries of each subject right after the release of results to estimate a percentage mark similar to the one in the previous UMS system.
Students should provide the results of United Kingdom Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) or BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT).
As the A-Level results are not released until mid-August, we will invite a few applicants with outstanding results in the GCE AS level, UKCAT and/or BMAT for an early interview.
After the release of GCE AL or IAL results, the top-ran
ked students (usually an average of 4A*>95%), who have not been interviewed before, will be invited for interview in late August.
The cut-off score for GCE A-Level or IAL student accepted to Medicine in 2021 was 3A*1A
IB Diploma students
IB students should take 6 subjects, including 3 Higher Level subjects with grades of at least 6,7,7 in the Higher Level subjects
The Higher Level Subjects should include either biology or chemistry and preferably both.
Out of a maximum score of 45, a minimum score of 42 and above is required before IB students are are considered for admission.
Applicants who have a predicted score of 42 or above are invited for an early interview.
IB results are usually released in early July and high ranking students (usually with a score of 42 or above) who have not had an early interview are invited for an interview in late July.
The cut-off score for IB student accepted to Medicine in 2021 was 43
