Entry requirements:
CUHK medical school offers 295 places in 2022-23 and it does not set specific quota for JUPAS and non-JUPAS places.
Select students who rank around top 1-2% in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or equivalent standards for non-JUPAS categories, as well as having a good performance at the admission interview.
Only permanent residents with right of abode in Hong Kong are eligible for application (except for a few students from mainland China under a specific Mainland scheme).
JUPAS
DSE students:
4 core subjects + 2 or 3 elective subjects (but 3 elective is strongly recommended)
The elective subjects should include either biology or chemistry and preferably both.
They rank DSE students based on total score of their DSE subject results with the following scoring scheme:
5** = 7, 5* = 6, 5 = 5, 4 = 4, 3 = 3, 2 = 2, 1 = 1
A minimum total score of 40 is required for invitation to an interview
(e.g 2 "5**, 2 "5*", 2 "5" and 1 "4" = a score of 40)
If you want to apply to the GPS (Global Physician-Leadership Stream), you will need a minimum score of 46 and 4 subjects with 5**

Non-JUPAS
GCE-A-Level students
GCE/IAL students should take 4 AL subjects, excluding Chinese.
The AL subjects should include either biology or chemistry and preferably both.
Further Maths is not counted as a separate subject. The raw mark of Maths or Further Maths, whichever is higher, will count towards the total GCE score.
Students are required to provide raw marks and grade boundaries of each subject right after the release of results to estimate a percentage mark similar to the one in the previous UMS system.
Students should provide the results of United Kingdom Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) or BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT).
As the A-Level results are not released until mid-August, we will invite a few applicants with outstanding results in the GCE AS level, UKCAT and/or BMAT for an early interview.
After the release of GCE AL or IAL results, the top-ranked students (usually an average of 4A*>95%), who have not been interviewed before, will be invited for interview in late August
IB Diploma students
IB students should take 6 subjects, including 3 Higher Level subjects with grades of at least 6,7,7 in the Higher Level subjects
The Higher Level Subjects should include either biology or chemistry and preferably both.
Out of a maximum score of 45, a minimum score of 42 and above is required before IB students are are considered for admission.
Applicants who have a predicted score of 42 or above are invited for an early interview.
IB results are usually released in early July and high ranking students (usually with a score of 42 or above) who have not had an early interview are invited for an interview in late July.
