OUR STORY

The vocation of a doctor is to heal the sick, relieve suffering and and save lives. This is the reason why the medical profession enjoys such a high status in the society. Becoming a doctor requires a lot of hard work. Nevertheless, there are still many students willing to do it. Medical schools around the world typically accept the top 1% of students, according to admissions statistics published each year. The requirement to be at the "top 1%" has discouraged many students aspiring to become doctors. Students either give up their quest to get into medical school very early or grudgingly give it up after many failed attempts. They are forced to accept that they are unfit for the medical profession. For some, this may be true, but for the vast majority of students, it is not. They gave up or were forced to give up, not because they were not good enough, but because they used the wrong method and, took a wrong path.
It is really disappointing and heartbreaking as it would not have happened if they had been guided properly, had prepared early, had engaged in the right extra curricular activities at the right time, and had been given advice from people in the same position before but had successfully found a safe and happy way into medical school. This includes consolidating the conceptual knowledge and application of basic science subjects, especially physics, chemistry and biology, study skills, time management, task prioritisation, note preparation, systematic revision, sports and music participation, community and health services attachment, interview practice, multiple mini-interview practice, UCAT/BMED/UMAT preparation and personal statement writing.
At ROD Academy, medical practitioners, medical students, and dedicated mentors all work hard for one reason: to help students aspiring to become doctors or healthcare professionals get into medical school or a healthcare college! We provide students with the best possible preparation. You don't need to be super-smart such as being the top students in middle/high school. However, there are some basic qualities you should have before considering becoming a medical student or future doctor.
The following three (3) questions may help you decide if you will survive the medical school training?
1. Can you exercise self-discipline?
2. If you study at an international school in Hong Kong, are you ranked above the 50th percentile academically, or if you study at a Band 1 local school in Hong Kong, are you ranked above 33rd percentile? Or, if you study at a top-ranked Band 2 local school, are you ranked above the 66th percentile ?
(1st percentile = bottom of the year , 99th percentile = top of the year)
3. Are you willing to persevere when faced with difficulties?
If you answered "yes" to the above 3 questions, you should contact us. We are confident to realize your dream. That's why the academy is named ROD Academy, because ROD stands for "Realisation Of Dreams".
